5k... well here we go.

Well here it is I have actually took the plunge and signed up to run a 5k... in 6 weeks time. Yikes!

I'm a little nervous to say the least as this will be the first time I have ever signed up for a race or ever run 5k in my life. Right now I can only run for about 15 minutes straight so I will be working on building up my time over these next few weeks. I think it will be a good first run as it is The Colour Run here in London and their moto is "The happiest 5k on the planet!"

I'm not sure if a 5k can actually make you happy... considering every time I run I feel like I'm dying. But hey at least I'll die smiling right? :)

When I first heard about the colour run I thought it looked amazing with all the colours and such as your running. Since you get sprayed by them at different points during the race and in the end you come out looking like a rainbow. It does seem pretty awesome when you look at all the pictures of people doing it. I think I am just more nervous about actually being able to run 5k.

I have decided to train with an app called couch to 5k.

I have heard some positive things about this app and know at least two people whom this has worked for them to help them get started. I start this week once I'm home from Bath and I'm going to start running outside since usually I only run on a treadmill. I just need to get over my initial fear of not being able to make it and have faith that I can do it. I'm just hoping to be able to make it to the finish line. Which I think is a good place to start.

If all goes well I will be able to check off another thing on my new list of adventures! Let the training begin and time to get my ass in shape :)

off the Bath!

So due to the insane prices online for booking a sun vacation last minute I have been hanging out in London for the week. Which actually has been pretty nice so far. I went to a disco type soul party at a club on Friday night, followed by a retro night party at a friends house on Saturday. Then Sunday I went to an event called Feast in the Fields where you sample different food and drink from local restaurants. Which was really cool and ended the day off by laying in the park. The weather was fantastic all weekend. And then Monday came around and brought back the rain. :(

I have planned an overnight trip on Thursday with a friend to Bath which I am so pumped about. We booked a little B&B to stay in and we are going to experience all this beautiful little place has to offer.

I hope to see the Roman bath museum as well as just take in the city. It is suppose to be one of the most beautiful cities in England. So I'm sure I will be snapping away.

The best part is we are going to the Thermae Spa for the day which will be amazing! And I will be getting my first massage ever! Which I am thrilled for! This will be the first time I have ever received a massage from a professional. So I'm pretty excited. Check out the site it looks amazing!

I'll post lots of pictures upon my return :)

where to next?

Another break week is almost upon us... just one more week left of school then I'm off for a week. Now the only thing left to decide is where to go.

I really want to go some place hot with a beach and just lounge for 5 days doing nothing but soaking up some rays and drinking some beers.

I found a couple cheap vacation deals on lastminute.com which sounded perfect...
I narrowed it down to Spain, Malta, or Ibiza. They all seem very reasonable so it's just a matter of narrowing it down with my friend.

Now if by chance things with going away don't work out I do have a backup plan. I will be doing some things in and around London that I have wanted to do but haven't had a chance to in a while. And also venture to Bath for a night to partake in some relaxation time at the spa.

I'm sure it will be a good break either way.

But the real craziness it that once I'm back from my break there is only 7 WEEKS left till summer vacation! And it will bring to an end my 2 years teaching in London! Crazy how time flies... the good part is that I'm working on a way to stay here and keep my current job so hopefully everything with my visa/border issue works itself out. *fingers crossed*

And if it doesn't work out... well then my summer break in Canada will be extended... permanently. That is until I venture to a new country to try my luck at teaching.

a day in brighton

It's been a busy couple of weeks as I'm winding down to my last term of the school year. I had some parent teacher interviews, lots of paper work, and life things all going on at once so I haven't had much time for an update.

For the May bank holiday weekend I got a nice holiday off on the Monday. So we headed down to Brighton for the day to see the seaside and the little town. I had never been but I have hear lots about the pier and how beautiful it is. Turns out it was a very nice day. The weather was great and we had a chance just to relax and hang out. The beach is nice but it's not really a beach as in what I am use to. It's a pebble beach. Not as nice as sand in my opinion but a nice enough escape from London. My body has been craving some sand and sunshine lately. I think it's because it was such a long winter this year that my body is aching for something different. It's been getting nicer here even to the point of hitting mid 20s some days. But mostly staying around 13-15.

Back to my weekend plans... Brighton is beutiful for a nice day escape but not much to do there for more than a day. I also travelled ot Greenwich which I love! It's this cute little area with a beautiful huge park. So we travelled there on Monday to hang out and got a chance to explore the markets. The markets were great and I found some amazing prints that I wanted to purchase next time I'm there and once I get settled in to a place of my own. So all in all a good holiday break :)
