Tasteclub - Souk Medina

For this months Tasteclub Nikki brought us outside of our usual North London area and took us on the tube to Covent Garden. We ended up going to Seven Dials and hitting up a North African restaurant called Souk Medina

Tasteclub # 3 - Souk Medina

The restaurant was very cool and had a nice vibe to it as it was decorated with cool lanterns all around but also was a bit on the darker side which I would have liked it to be a bit brighter to see my food better. We opted to get a little meal sharer for the four of us which consisted of a selection of meze to start and then a few main dishes to share after.

The meze was by far my favourite part of the meal. We had some lovely hummous, a taziki type dip, grilled helluomi, falafel, vine leaves and breads to share. Then for our main we had two different types of lamb, chicken, a chickpea dish and some couscous. The chicken was great but I found that all the mains had a very similar taste and not much different flavours to them. They all just sort of tasted like they were seasoned the same. The food overall was good and different since it's not something I would normally ever go for. But I did enjoy it... especially the starters. Our bill was pretty hefty even with the tastecard discount and I'm not sure I would say that the food was worth the amount of money we paid in the end. But overall the atmosphere was nice and the company was great!

Yurting in Norfolk

For the May bank holiday weekend my friend Nikki was celebrating her birthday and we decided to head out on a little getaway out of London for the weekend. We rented a car and took a road trip up to Norfolk where we had a yurt waiting for us.

For those of you who aren't familiar with yurting, it's basically camping but in a big giant tent with a living room layout. It has couches, a bed, and even a little cooking area. So camping but comfortably.

The weekend weather was not the greatest for May but we just bundled up and powered through the windy days. We visited a couple beaches in Wells-next-the-sea and Holkham which were gorgeous and also happen to be the place where they shot Shakespeare in Love. Wells-next-the-sea had these cute little beach huts lined up along it which I loved so much and It was also was the first time I have ever worm wellies on a beach... so very British.

The weekend was good fun. We drank too much and ate even more. I introduced the girls to some good old smores around the fire at night and we just had a good time enjoying being away from the busy day to day London life.

I would definately recommend the place we stayed at if your looking for a little escape with comfort. Check out their website for more details and all the different accommodations they offer.
