Boomtown Fair

This summer I attended my first ever festival which as it seems is a right of passage for most early 20-somethings over here. But in true late bloomer fashion I attended my first one in my thirties :)

I had no clue what to expect from a festival only from what people had told me which was
1. Wellies are a must since it's one big mud pit!
2. You're constantly dirty (as is everyone else)
3. The port-a-loos are the worst things ever
4. It's the 'best time they have ever had!'

Boomtown was such a good first festival to attend as it wasn't overwhelming and we somehow lucked out with amazing weather all weekend (I ended up leaving the wellies at home)! We opted for the comfort camping and stayed in bell tents for the weekend which only cost us a bit more and we got a big tent with lots of room plus access to private loos and showers. Which was fine for me as I'm not that fond of being unwashed for four days.

The best thing about Boomtown is that they really don't have any huge names in music performing so all the shows we went to weren't overcrowded and we could actually get close up to every band we went to. Plus they had so many stages all over that you could just walk around and every 10 minutes you would hit a new show. It also has different districts each with it's own unique theme and immersive theatre happening all around you all the time. Which you won't get at most festivals.

Here is the video they made form this summer so you can get an idea of how cool it was.
